Colors of the bides maids dresses vs. the church

Well Im Getting married in July of 2012, and the color I want the bridesmaids in is a ruby/red. The problem is the church I grew up in which is also the church we are to be married in is done in green. Im afraid that if I dress them in red it will look like christmas, any ideas?
